National and Global Scholarships Advising is celebrating a record number of Gilman scholarship recipients for study abroad programs for the summer and fall terms. 21 students received grants to help towards studying abroad in a program or internship of their choice. Some of these scholars are abroad already, studying in countries worldwide, from Mexico, to the UK, to South Korea, Namibia and beyond.

Here are some fun facts about our newest Gilman scholars:

  •   They will visit 14 different countries from anywhere between 14 days to 1 year.
  •   17 students will participate in study abroad programs while 4 students will do international internships.
  •    5 recipients are E-Campus students.
  •   4 recipients are in the Honors College.
  •   1 recipient is from OSU Cascades.
  •   All 9 undergraduate colleges are represented.

Each student received between $3000 to $5000 for a grand total of $80,500 in support of Oregon State University students. The Gilman scholarship enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. Funds can be put towards international program tuition, housing, airfare, and passport and visa fees. Any undergraduate student who is also a Pell grant recipient is eligible to apply. Each year deadlines are in March and October.
