Be a full-time undergraduate student with one to three semesters remaining in their program
Have a competitive grade point average
Be able to spend 10 to 12 weeks in Canada between May and August
The application deadline is in September. Semi-finalists will also participate in interviews in January.
Do awardees go to only one university, or do they go to several universities in Canada?
Each scholar will only intern at one university, but there are several universities around Canada that are involved with the program. During the selection process, candidates rank their top 3-7 projects. After reviewing the rankings, students and professors are interviewed and submit their final rankings by the end of January. This will determine where exactly awardees go in Canada.
How many people normally apply to the Fulbright-MITACS Globalink Canada scholarship and how competitive is it?
This is a very new opportunity, launched in 2019. Statistics on the applicants are not available, but in the first year two OSU students were selected!
