Award Description
The US-UK Fulbright Commission offers special Summer Institutes for US citizens to participate in a 3-6 week academic and cultural summer program in the UK. Participants in these programs will get an opportunity to experience an exciting academic program at a highly regarded UK university, explore the culture, heritage, and history of the UK and develop their academic ability by improving presentation, research, and communication skills.
There are about 6 different institutes available each summer in varying topics: students can choose from institutes that explore the history and culture of Britain, Scotland, or Northern Ireland, explore social justice and activism in the UK, or learn about environment and sustainability among other varying topics.
The UK Summer Institutes program prioritizes students with financial need who have little to no travel experience outside of North America.

Get Started
Explore the available institutes for each year and get inspired! There are several UK Summer Institutes offered each year, each hosted by a different university and focused on a specific historical, cultural, or subject-related theme. Students are encouraged to explore their personal interests, and while you generally do not need an in-depth background in these topics, any prior knowledge required will be specified in the description of each individual Summer Institute.
