Award Description
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship is awarded to outstanding sophomores or juniors who are studying mathematics, natural sciences, or engineering and who intend to pursue a research career. The award provides up to $7,500 per year for a maximum of two years for undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and housing expenses.
For this scholarship, you will first submit your application internally to OSU through the National and Global Scholarships Advising office. Then, our office will coordinate a faculty committee who will read all OSU applications and select up to four (or five or six if one is a transfer student and/or one is a veteran) to endorse. These candidates will then continue to compete on the national level.
Award Details
Each Goldwater Scholar annually receives an amount equal to the cost of tuition, mandatory fees, books, and room and board minus the amount of support provided for by other sources, up to a maximum of $7,500 per full academic year. Scholars who receive the award as sophomores can expect to receive support for a maximum of two years (4 semesters) or until graduation, if sooner. Scholars who receive the award as juniors can expect to receive support for a maximum of one year (2 semesters) or until graduation, if sooner.
