The Mitchell Scholarship Program, named to honor former US Senator George Mitchell's pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process, is designed to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to community and public service.
This scholarship offers support for students to pursue a one-year master's degree at a university in Ireland or Northern Ireland.
Award Details
The Mitchell Scholarship provides full tuition, housing, and a monthly living stipend ($1250 USD) from September through May of the academic year. This scholarship will also cover the cost of roundtrip airfare to and from Ireland.
Mitchell Scholars are responsible for finding their own health insurance coverage while abroad.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be U.S. citizens
- Be between 18-30 years old on October 1 in the year you are applying
- Have a bachelor's degree before the start of the Mitchell Scholarship grant.
