IIE Generation Study Abroad Travel Grants

Award Details 

The IIE Generation Study Abroad Travel Grants will be made available for US students for a broad range of backgrounds to make it possible for students to participate in academic, internship, or service-learning experiences abroad. The Travel Grants can be used for travel to and from the country of study, as well as within the region, enabling students to make the most of their international experience. Students will be selected, with consideration give to the following factors: financial need, status as first-generation college students; status as members of underrepresented groups; disabilities; and the lack of experience with travel abroad. In this first year, IIE will offer 100 grants of $2,000 per student.

Eligibility 

Scholarship recipients must meet all eligibility requirements: 

  • US citizen or permanent resident
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a US college or university that is a Generation Study Abroad Commitment Partner
  • Participating in a program abroad for academic credit (study, internship, research, or service-learning) 
  • Demonstrate financial need 

Application Timeline 

For Summer & Fall 2018 Programs

  • January 2018 - application opens
  • March 7, 2018 - application deadline 
  • Late March 2018 - notification to students
  • April 4, 2018 - student agreement deadline
  • April - June 2018 - IIE disburses funds to Travel Grant recipients
