The Gilman Scholarship, provided through the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, can help offset the cost of your study or intern abroad program of choice. This scholarship offers up to $5,000 towards the study or intern abroad program of your choice for students who are eligible for a Federal Pell Grant. If you are studying a "critical need language" or if you're a STEM student going abroad, you could be eligible for Gilman's add-on awards as well, and able to gain extra support for your trip.
If you are planning to go abroad during winter, spring, or summer 2026, or you are embarking on an all-year 2026-2027 education abroad program, the Gilman Scholarship is open NOW for application and due October 3rd.
