Scholarships Opportunities By Year
You can apply for these scholarship opportunities at any point during your undergraduate career and may apply to you no matter your level.
- Boren Undergraduate Scholarship: Support for long-term study abroad and language learning in exchange for work in the U.S. government upon graduation.
- Critical Language Scholarship: Summer language immersion programs in languages not commonly taught in the U.S.
- Gilman International Scholarship/GIlman-McCain Scholarship: Up to $5,000 towards a study or intern abroad program of the student's choice for students with financial need or for those from military families.
You may apply for these scholarship opportunities if you are a first or second year student in college/university.
- Fulbright UK Summer Institutes: 3-4 weeks funded study in the summer at a university in the UK for freshmen and sophomores.
These scholarship opportunities are for students who are sophomores or juniors. Some of them go by how many terms you have left in school, how many terms you've already accomplished, or general requirements about experience in school or with your subject area.
- Goldwater Scholarship: Up to $7500 per year for up to two years for outstanding STEM students who intend to pursue a career in research
- Truman Scholarship: $30,000 towards a graduate program of the student's choice in the US for students who are planning to have careers in public service
- Udall Scholarship: Up to $7000 for undergraduate academic expenses and tuition for sophomores and juniors who have experience with leadership, public service, and commitment to Native American tribal policy and health care or the environment
- DAAD Rise Program: Funded summer STEM-focused internship in a German lab or institution
- Fulbright MITACS Globalink Canada: Funded summer research in any discipline at a university in Canada
You may apply to these scholarships as a graduating senior in your final year at OSU or after you've graduated. Some scholarship opportunities have limits regarding how many years outside of your undergraduate degree you can be when you apply; be sure to read eligibility requirements carefully.
- Churchill Scholarship: 1 year funded graduate study at Churchill College at University of Cambridge
- Critical Language Scholarship: Summer immersion language study in languages not commonly taught in the U.S.
- Fulbright U.S. Student Program: 1 year funded graduate study, research, or teaching English abroad.
- Gates Cambridge Scholarship: Funded graduate study in any offered subject at University of Cambridge for students who are committed to improving the lives of others.
- Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program: Funding for graduate degree at Stanford University in any discipline
- Marshall Scholarship: Funding for 1-2 years' graduate study at a choice of U.K. universities.
- Mitchell Scholarship: Funding for 1 year of graduate study at universities in Ireland and Northern Ireland. (Currently on pause.)
- Rhodes Scholarship: Funding for 2-3 years of graduate study at Oxford University in the UK for students with outstanding academic and leadership qualities and/or commitment to others and the common good.
- Schwarzman Scholarship: Funding for 1 year master's degree in Beijing, China with a focus on public policy, economics, business, and international studies.
You may apply for these scholarships as currently enrolled graduate-level students.
