FAQ

  • What are the German language requirements for the DAAD Rise Summer Scholarship?  Do students need some level of proficiency in German to participate?

German language ability is not required unless otherwise noted in the individual project descriptions. Get in touch with the internship provider if you want to discuss language requirements. Basic knowledge of German will prove helpful in everyday life, but the working language will be English.

  • For the DAAD rise scholarship we noticed that the study options were pretty limited. Would a natural resources major, for example, be able to be considered for the scholarship or is it limited to students that are directly majoring in the identified disciplines.

According to the scholarship's website, to be eligible you must be "an undergraduate student in the field of biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, earth sciences or engineering (or a closely related field)." So yes, if you are in a major that is not listed on the website but that is closely related, you are eligible. Also, if you are a pre-med student majoring in a field other than the natural sciences you are eligible to apply.
